Description

Drawing for :iconyalwho:'s christmas present.

I replaced the watermark with writing because it looked terrible.

This was probably my hardest worked on picture, but it was really fun. I'll probably do that kind of shading again.

I REALLY could've used a different brush, but i forgot the existence of other brushes. :iconfacepalmplz:

Anyways, enjoy, and have a nice day.

Sketched, inked, redrawn on adobe photoshop elements 8.0 with bamboo tablet.

My first reaction to this piece was: AWWWWWW...... This is a lovely image, which practically radiates friendship and love. This scene is so sweet, I can't imagine anyone who wouldn't appreciate it.
Although these are pokemon, these two fellas steer away from the traditional anime-cartoon-style; this is all your style. Although the style is minimalistic, it's super charming, and really completes the picture. Even though the two pokemon don't have complex facial features (they really only have eyes), you've managed to show an incredible amount of emotion in them. Two friends taking comfort in each other, and sharing a special bond of friendship. And how Driftloon is embracing Charmander just as much as Charmander is holding him emphasizes their mutual friendship wonderfully.
Now, I must agree with the last guy on the shading; although it creates a warm feeling, Driftloon should be reflecting orange light, rather than white light.
other than that, I think you've done an outstanding job on everything...from the overall feeling of the image, to the subtle shading on Charmander's face. Well done!
